BOSTON, Ma (September 25, 2007) -- StarGames, a Boston-based sports marketing and production company, will produce a 25th anniversary DVD history of the conference, it was announced today by Commissioner Joe Bertagna at the league’s Media Day in Boston. The DVD will be released next fall to launch Hockey East’s 25th season of play as part of a year-long celebration of the conference and its history.
“We have been looking forward to this upcoming celebration for some time,” said Bertagna. “The DVD project will provide the perfect occasion to start everything off next fall."
The Hockey East Association began play with the 1984-85 season and almost immediately set new standards for Division I college hockey. The history of the league includes numerous NCAA titles, Hobey Baker winners, and a roster of some of the greatest players and coaches in the sport’s history. But the DVD looks to provide more than a collection of individual and team accomplishments. It will tell the Hockey East story.
“We are delighted to be working with Hockey East to help celebrate its 25th Anniversary season,” said Jerry Solomon, President of StarGames. “Throughout its history, Hockey East has provided tremendous competition with great players and great plays. We hope to capture all of this in an anniversary DVD and television show which fit perfectly with our other programming.”
The Hockey East Association operates out of league offices in Wakefield, Mass., with ten schools participating in a men’s conference and eight schools participating in a women’s conference. The Women’s Hockey East Association began play with the 2002-2003 season.
