Q&A with Nancy
Q: Hi Nancy, I saw your show on CN8 and I have a question. I have been noticing the men figure skaters perform more in terms of facial expression and communicating with the audience. They actually "get into a character and into the music." It seems as though the women don't do that nearly as much as of late. The men's competition is where it's at this year. Do you agree with the higher level of performances with the men versus the women this year? Could music choices play a huge part in performance and if so, do you find the women "play it safe" with using the same classical music over and over again. The men, it seems, hardly ever use the same music. ~ A.L.
A: Certainly U.S. skating is witnessing two of the top male skaters in quite some time. They push themselves every year to get better which is great. On the women's side, we see a lot of younger girls who are still developing. The feeling and interaction with the music comes with maturity... they will get there!

According to Nancy, "I loved the fact that Maria could introduce something new and creative to skating design. The ballroom gowns are so eye catching that I thought it would be interesting to incorporate some of their design and functionality into my skating dresses". Designs to Shine by Maria McGill has been the leading design company in the Ballroom dance industry for over ten years. Famous for the amazing fit and originality of each custom gown, Designs to Shine was chosen to create all of the gowns for the premier season of Dancing with the Stars, the Dancing with the Stars Rematch Special, So You Think You Can Dance, and Ballroom Bootcamp. Being chosen to design for Skating with Celebrities was McGill's first foray into the exciting world of professional ice skating and has lead Designs to Shine to working closely with skating legend Nancy Kerrigan. "The custom green costume created for Nancy to wear for Kristi Yamaguchi Friends & Family was inspired not only by the music, but by our desire to introduce classic designs with a contemporary, unexpected twist" said Ms McGill.
